HomeBiz 101: Change is Necessary – Run With it

It is often just the way it is and there is nothing we can do except to make the appropriate adjustments . Constant change is one reason you should consider becoming organized. You should know where things are and how to access them so that you can ‘go with the flow’ rather than to get all disoriented when there is a change.

You should make a list of the necessary components of your business. That would include your website hosting and domain name. Who is the merchant you do business with? What are the contact numbers? What is your account number. When are your payments due? How do you pay them? Any interruption in service to either of these will bring your website down (no sales) until you fix the problem.

As well you need to keep track of your autoresponder service. When are the payments due? How do you pay them? If you have an interruption here, you are losing your new prospects who are unable to connect with your service. You want in all cases mentioned above to be sure the merchants have the current bank account information or the payments may be refused.

You should also consider your streams of income – your affiliate or other programs. Know how to contact them and be sure they have current bank information so there is no interruption in your membership where you might lose sales.

For whatever reason any of these things could change themselves. A company could change their terms and you find them unacceptable so you want to cancel. The company has new owners or management and you don’t like them. A company stops doing business in your area. Even what if you have a dispute with them about money you feel they owe you.

Change can be initiated from any direction. Even by you. If you are on top of your situation with everything then it will make it easier for you to determine if you need to change something. For example if you have on your list the cost of each service. You may see an ad one day that offers the same service for half the cost.
This would be a good reason to make a change. (be sure not to be ‘penny wise and pound foolish’ – don’t compromise quality to save a few bucks.)

Another BIG change that can be quite shocking and difficult to recover from if you are not prepared is a computer crash. ALWAYS be sure to back up your data every week or month. That way if your entire memory is wiped out, you have a starting point that has your latest information to build back up from. Most of the applications and programs are on your installation disks so don’t worry about them so much – just your documents and any work you may have done.
