Staying Motivated When Working at Home

As the saying goes, ‘There is No Truth, Only Perception’? It may be true in some cases, but in others maybe not. The truth is the truth whether people see it or not.

When you look at something like attitude, for example your attitude about working you may be able to see an example. Do you like to work? If the answer is yes then you probably have a pretty good time working. The busier you are the more you thrive in the environment.

It is likely that you are creative about your work and are always looking for ways that you can improve the process. You are proud when you do things efficiently and accurately. You derive substantial gratification when you have accomplished the successful completion of a project.

On the other hand, if you would rather be doing something else and don’t particularly like to work, that’s ok. We need balance in our lives and we should make time for living the other aspects. It is probable that if you make regular time for you, then the time you spend working will seem less unappealing to you. It is necessary to work, like it or not, and it would be more pleasant, as well as more productive, if we learn to enjoy it. This is much easier to appreciate when you see how enjoyable working at home can be especially when compared to a corporate job.

If money is your only motivation you might need to focus on that. Never elaborate on your financial problems though as it will add more stress and unpleasantness. Think about the things you would like to buy if you had extra money. Imagine yourself having them, like a ‘carrot on a stick’ to keep you going.

It is easier when you like what you are doing just for the sake of doing it. You can enjoy whatever you do. However, even if you are happy, you need to take regular breaks and at least a weekly day off. If you are so tired it will begin to seem like depression, which can hardly be said to be motivating.

More than likely you are starting a home business in your spare time, in addition to a regular full-time job. The dream is likely to be that someday you will work at home full-time and ‘fire your boss’. Be sure that you have proven income potential in your business before you let him go. It can take a while to get things up and rolling and it would be best if you were not feeling pressured.
