Internet Marketing is Like Sports?

There is a saying that goes like this: ‘practice makes perfect’ Athletes build their strength and skill by practicing. They reach plateaus and if they keep their momentum going consistently, they continue to move forward in their skill. It is the same with marketing as you are building and sustaining momentum by constantly taking action to promote your home business.

get it on!

Artists also keep practicing and learning techniques. In the military they continually test their endurance and develop their skills using weapons and hand-to-hand combat. Marketing is very much the same in that the more we practice by taking action, the better we will get at doing what we must do.

In building momentum another way this is important is that most people will not respond. This is your challenge. Don’t become discouraged or give up. You have to increase your efforts and have enough volume that those people won’t matter. Eventually you will learn to focus only on the ones that do take action and respond. They are the ones that will help you build your business over time. In any case you just need to keep pushing forward no matter what it seems like.

It is easy to lose your way when you elaborate on that you may not see any positive results in the beginning (because you haven’t got the momentum yet). This is normal. However, normal is not always right – in fact often it isn’t right at all. Catching a cold is normal, but it’s not good for anything, and we just want to get rid of it because it is annoying.

Sometimes we must take special steps to ensure that we don’t allow ourselves to get discouraged and stop trying. We may have to talk to ourselves continually to guard against negative thoughts and feelings. If you don’t stop them they will become an attitude. If you make a conscious effort to combat them they will stop eventually. Replace them with something which is positive and focus only on that until you are feeling better.

You can visualize the beauty that is always here even when you are personally not feeling well. There is nature – the sky, the water, fresh air, the trees and flowers. There is much good for everyone to share. Think about how lovely it is. Think about people who make you feel good, or your family that love you. You can take a minute or two to remember things you have accomplished that made you a winner. Like starting an online home business!

Remain focused on your target goals. In this case it is to create a profitable business via Internet marketing. Realize that you may have to ‘wash, rinse, and repeat’ over and over and over again before you will start to see any results. Understand that is just how it is. It’s how it usually works and you shouldn’t get in a rush or feel that you are failing. It should make you try even harder.

The Only Thing Constant is Change

Circumstances change daily. If nothing else in your sphere you know at least the moon changes phases regularly. The sun goes up and down, and the planets move around. So even if nothing in our immediate lives seem to change, the universe always does.

create changes

There must be some reason(s) for this and I am sure someone with a scientific bent might understand why, what, how. Not really important though to us as long as things go as they should and there are no unexpected natural disasters for any reason that causes a problem for us.

With that said, you do have most likely several aspects to your life that may be vulnerable to change whether good or bad. Our family situation, our day job, our interests and hobbies, our health, etc. may change at any time. Hopefully it will change for the better only!

It is actually a good idea however to make changes on your own if for no other reason than to stimulate your learning and experience. For example if you have chosen to create an extra element in your life like starting an online home business, on one hand you will want to stick with things long enough to see how they unfold – what you can accomplish, etc.

However on the other hand because things do change, and some are not that obvious as the moon, you want to stay in touch with what is happening and always be pursuing change – even in the sense of keeping what is working and adding what else may work a little, as well or even better. That way we don’t miss any opportunities that may otherwise present themselves.

It’s pretty much always about keeping an open mind whenever we are talking progress or even logic. As long as we are open to possibilities, we may be able to grasp things as they come our way and take advantage of them. Conversely if we are ‘asleep at the wheel’ some very good opportunities may pass us right by.

As long as you have taken care of the business you already have and know everything is functioning, take a little time to go and see what is happening that may be new. Don’t make it your main focus, but just give it a little time to browse around and see what may be an option. Then do a little research. Check out the buzz but just don’t get hung up there.

Starting an Online Home Business – Planning is Key to Staying Focused

Planning is necessary because it is organized. If you you have never ‘multi-tasked’ – that is doing more than one important thing at a time, then it will help you if you can write down a plan of action.

have a plan!

You may have for example 10 steps that you need to do to accomplish one thing. Perhaps you can’t do all 10 at once, so you do as much as you have time to do, or have the necessary resources to complete. You can put it aside and go on to do something else that is pressing and make a note to remind yourself that you have not completed this item or that it is pending something that you are waiting for and when you can expect it.

In any case if you can organize a plan and make your plan like a ‘to do’ list, it will help you to stay on track. If you have a day planner or a good calendar with lots of space for each day, this will help you. Actually to spare the expense of buying a day planner, you could just take some plain paper and make yourself a calendar of sorts, ideally having a whole page for each day.

The way some planners work you would have space to put a list of things you want to do and then a lot of space below or beside it to make comments and keep track of what you did do and what still needs to be done. If you make these a week at a time you can then for example take something that you started Monday and make a note on Friday to check up on the status of this task.

If you are not organized as a rule, this activity will help you to become organized. Usually when you are starting anything new there are lots of different details – some purely informational and some that are tasks you need to do that are associated. It is good to have it all in one place so if you are making the planner yourself, you could get a few file folders to keep things in.

When starting an online business, you will have lots of different link addresses and associated usernames and passwords. Keeping these organized will save you lots of confusion, failed login attempts, tickets to helpdesks, and most importantly, time. If you start right out from the beginning by organizing your emails and etc into online folders that are labeled by company name; and keeping up your system every time you get something you need to save, it will be a lot easier to find things, especially 6 months from now.

Planning is the key to staying organized. If you are not organized, you can forget things, lose things and generally lose control of what you are doing. Many people starting to work from home also have ‘day jobs’ and so their time online to work on their business may be sporadic – for example a few hours a night, a few times a week, on weekends, or etc. This makes it particularly challenging to stay on top of everything.

Lists, calendars and logs (notes) really can help you not to waste any time or effort and prevent you from forgetting to do something that is important. It may seem like you are making more work for yourself by keeping your plan up-to-date, but it is necessary, at least until you get everything up and running.
