According to statistics, home based businesses generate several billion dollars every year. There are quite a few self-made millionaires in the home business industry and that may be because their creativity is not stifled by a ‘corporate’ job description. While it may be paramount that jobs include the performance of specific duties necessary for the company, they are mostly limiting unless the person is in upper-management and has both the ‘power’ and the inclination to exceed whatever the norm.
The Internet is also continuing to grow quickly and expanding to more and more geographical areas as the number of websites increases exponentially every year. It is a shame that somehow these facts and possibilities do not seem to be clear to the many unemployed or disenfranchised citizens who do not exercise the option to start their own business from home. It is definitely an option that if you can’t find a job you can create one of your own!
Although the economy and the unemployment rate seem to be recovering at long last, there is little to indicate that salaries and hourly wages that have trailed farther and farther behind the cost of living increases will suddenly increase. The fact remains that people with families often need more than one income just to keep up, let alone get ahead. However getting ahead may still be possible if you start a home based business in your ‘spare time’.
Even before people began losing jobs, the vast majority were stressed out and unhappy that they were not able to spend time with their families as more and more were working extra hours or even second jobs. This makes everything seem worse than just being short on funding. At least working from home you are there with your loved ones and may even be able to spend some time with them between Job A and Job B. Home based businesses can help with so many problems because you can take control of your situation and do your work around your life, rather than fashioning your life around your work.
With all that said, home based businesses are often represented as being on ‘easy street’ – the way to wealth without work. It’s so not true. In fact in the beginning you may be working without pay until you get organized and get things set up. Maybe someday it will be easy street but not right off the bat.
Naturally if you have already lost your job you have full-time to devote to your business start-up. It is probably even a good idea if this is the case, to spend some of your time finding at least a part-time job, so that you don’t need to worry about survival while you are developing your business.
If you still have a job, it will take a while longer if you are just working at your home business part-time. If you want to change your life, be happier and closer to your family, or if you just need more income, consider the possibilities presented by home based businesses.
If you really think about a brilliant theory, you are sure eventually to see possibilities from many different perspectives. Sometimes the most simple things are the most profound. Or conversely, the most profound things are often purely simple (natural/organic).
If you meditate on the concepts for an extended period, you may discover some priceless ideas that you can employ to assist you in developing your internet marketing strategies. Really try to visualize where this is coming from.
Think about this statement (which goes something like this): “Most people get attached to (the idea) of finding a product to sell. Great but then they need to chase people down and convince them they need or want what they are selling. It really seems natural that we would enjoy selling something that we ourselves use. However, unfortunately many times what we like or think is best, is not what even our friends or family really like – let alone something called the ‘market’.
However, the way they should be looking is to “Find the Market, and give them what they want” (and are looking for). You may be able to see how the position that you are in is very different in this dynamic. People would come to you to see what you have. They would be INTERESTED. Interested enough to take action (for real, and to actually process a transaction) aka convert to a direct sale.
If you find out what people are looking for already and then supply it you have a much easier time than trying to convince people to buy something. They should already want it, need it, or at least be curious about it. Then by providing the information they are looking for, you get an opportunity to approach them about your interests coming from a foundation of a relationship of trust.
So if you let things ‘sell themselves’, you can spend your time and other resources (effort, money) on developing and/or having a good service or product; rather than to spend everything doing marketing and advertising, and anything else that may include, so that we can generate a sale.
It’s real money whether the transaction is a direct sale, or even merely lead capture or creating a prospective customer and thereby a possibility for a sale. As well, you can have variable models for income sources. For example, maybe a combination of Residual Income and OTO (One-Time-Only) Sales/Commissions;
Your income sources may be some affiliate programs; and then also maybe some services you may want to provide as a ‘second income’. For instance if you discovered something in learning Internet marketing techniques, and being able to do the tasks yourself to promote your business, rather than to pay for services. You are on the right track, if you don’t mind doing ‘little things’ and in fact think it’s kind of fun? (You could use the extra money). If there’s nothing you are crazy about doing, then think about going shopping (with the extra money) to motivate you to take on another project to get the money.
Along the way, in finding the market, you will learn what other people need and/or want and as such you may discover more things that might be a source of income. For example you see a bunch of people who claim not to like and/or may not be able to do things like writing; or they don’t know much about using a computer. So maybe you could offer some coaching on the basic things that you know, that have come naturally to you or you have been trained to do maybe in your former career.
There are both good and bad forms of stress. For example being super busy working is a good kind of stress — or at least it can be unless you don’t enjoy what you are doing. Really exerting yourself as a challenge to achieving some goal, while stressful, can be very gratifying if you hit the target. So stresses like these can actually be motivational.
There are stresses that we can’t avoid because they are inherent in life – wars and rumors of wars, catastrophic events in nature, crime, health, financial and relationship problems, etc. Of course these are amplified because they go along with fear and anxiety. Since they can’t be avoided completely, we need to do something to mitigate them as far as how they affect us.
There is a direct relationship between our minds and our bodies. If you are using all of your resources to worry or trying to navigate chaos, then you can actually compromise your immune system. This can leave you more vulnerable to illness, and when ‘normal’ illness occurs, it becomes more difficult for your immune system to overcome it.
Starting a business, just like starting a new job, moving to a new location, or ending a relationship are considered major life events that are super-stressful; and unless we acquire coping mechanisms they can really undermine our well-being. It is a bit like having one hand tied behind your back if your entire system is pre-occupied with stress. So taking time away to relax and rest will actually serve to make you more accurate and efficient, hence more productive.
As well there are things you can do to ‘talk yourself down’ when you are on your last nerve and just can’t get away for a break. There used to be a school of thought that said it is best to rant and rave and get it off your chest; and it was that anger that we keep inside that will kill us. However now the thinking is that you can actually cause a major health event by throwing a ‘hissy fit’ – you can literally ‘blow a gasket’.
So it may be best to have ways to calm yourself down – and believe it or not being organized and taking things one step at a time, is one way to alleviate a huge amount of stress when you are starting a business. You cannot digest or accomplish everything in one day. You should not contribute to your own demise by having unrealistic expectations. Schedule enough time to do just what needs to be done today and then take some time to breathe.
You need to realize that you may end up paying a few monthly fees while seeing no return on investment. That is the cost of doing business. If you truly want to start a business then you have to accept that it may cost you time, money and effort to do so. Your health and sanity however is not a price you should be willing to pay for any reason.
